PECHA SPORTSMANSHIP PLEDGE Sportsmanship is treating others like you want to be treated while playing sports. Sportsmanship is dependent on self-respect, respect for your fellow competitors, trainers, officials, and spectators. Sportsmanship is awareness that your actions, attitudes, and behavior affect everyone else. I recognize that striving to win, rather than winning itself, is what is important in sports and life. Striving to win means doing the best you can. I recognize that making mistakes and losing are part of life. We all suffer setbacks. I pledge that I will be tolerant of my mistakes and those of other riders. I recognize that mistakes are opportunities for learning. I recognize that within the parameters of competition, sportsmanship and fair play are paramount. I pledge that I will commit to promoting an atmosphere of healthy competition to ensure fun for all participants. I recognize that my horse’s well being comes first and will always be sure to do what is best for the horse above my own needs.
